One of my best friends will be getting married soon. I want to be there but I am in very low budget. Plus I will only be there the weekend.

Check Southwest.com they often have cheap flights if you buy in advance

The cheapest methods of getting there will also take you the longest in travel time. Greyhound bus is by far the cheapest, but can be a fairly unpleasant way to go, depending on who you get as a fellow passengers (being the cheapest it tends to draw some lowlifes). But it will also take you two or three days to get there, and the same going back.
The second cheapest can be the train, and that is an OUTSTANDING way to travel cross country - but again, it takes several days to make the trip.
I'm sure you've checked into air fare, which is of course the fastest, but even with gas prices as high as they are, driving will probably work out to be the cheapest and safest way for you to go. You didn't say where in California you were starting from, but you can drive straight through from Los Angeles to Nebraska in probably 24 hours or less, depending on the route you take.
I don't recommend hitchhiking, of course. It may end up costing you more than money.

where in nebraska to where in california ?
If you can drive or take a bus to Denver in say 4 or 5 hours you can get some reasonable Air fares west,

take the bus but it may take u 2 days to get there, it probley wouldnt be more then 80 bucks
