Your monitor could be going. How old is it?

This is mainly due to moisture in the air. If you live in a moist / rainy climate, this is bound to happen. I am from Mumbai, India. This happens to my monitor often in the rains.

Tip> Keep your PC in a closed room where not too much outside air/moisture gets in touch with the PC

How old is the monitor? It sounds as though it is starting to "go". If the warm-up period gets longer and longer or if the image never really gets to normal, consider replacing it.

giving it a good cleaning by blowing it out cannot hurt, but sounds more like something is failing. You might try and see if there is a pattern.
note: computers and all attachments ignore bangs with hand, cursing and threats (lol)
