My 14 year old twins are very common names Megan and Michael. I am expecting a baby Feb 5 and I want something different this time. My husband and I were married 2 years ago in Las Vegas and thought that a name that reminded us of our wedding and our favorite place to be would be nice. We came up with Sahara because that was the hotel we stayed at and we could think of anything else that we liked. Is Sahara too out there? Or should I use it as a middle name like Caitlyn Sahara?

I think Sahara is a pretty name!
Forget what other people think and give her the name if you and your husband like it!
(I think Gwyneth Paltrow took the cake on that one, so you shouldn't worry about it.)
I know a child named Sedona and she gets nothing but compliments on her name!
I also once met a child named Sage and I never would have thought until that moment that naming a child after an herb could work.
I think you should go for it. A name that means something to the two of you is far better than an ordinary name you just pick out of a book.

I have a theory that the only names that never go out of style are Anglo-Saxon last names as first names: Hunter Thompson, Whitney Houston, Harrison Ford, etc. Now names like Taylor, Madision, and Tyler are common enough to cause confusion, but there are plenty of British or Irish family names out there to choose from.

Another strategy I used when thinking about baby names was to ask teenagers and 20-year-olds what they thought, because they're closer to the generation of the baby in question, so their opinions of what's cool matter more than those of my contemporaries. I still get "cool name" comments from younger people about my son's name, even though people my age sometimes look at us funny.

Having said that, I think Sahara is fine, and Caitlyn Sahara is pretty, too. Using a name that means something to you is a good idea. It helps connect the child to you and reflects your bond with her dad.

I think Sahara is just fine. I would go with a two syllable middle name. I wouldn't use Caitlyn as a middle name though. Sahara is definitely a beautiful name. Try a more traditional middle name, and since your other children have M names try a M middle name. ex. Sahara Marie, Sahara Michelle,

how about :
Maliyah, Mierra, Cierra, Rakia, Ikea, Danaysha
Jalexis, Amaria, Teyonna, Essence, Patience,
Mashon, Mahogany, Skye, Markeisha, Kaya
Kayelle, Dymenz (diamonds), Spring, Traraya
Ashontti, Taleah, Akeema, and the list goes on email me if you want more girl names mznatural30@yahoo.com, i've named over 50 baby girls.
i would suggest you stay with the M names like:
Maliyah, Morgan, Mellendy, Mia, or Myra.
Morgan matches Megan more, or same name as one of your twins would be Meagan.
i like Sahara for a middle name, Morgan Sahara is awesome.

I love unusual (but not out there) names. Sahara is beautiful. Pair it with a slightly more traditional middle name if you want.

But I don't like Caitlyn and Sahara together. Sorry.

I think it should be a middle name and then stick with the M. So something like Marie Sahara. Have that as her full name like Sarah Louise off of Coronation street.

If you name your baby sahara, she will get beat up in school. No offense to your las vegas trip but that is a little out there, unless you're a hollywood actress. Don't give your kid a name that will hurt her the rest of her life.

Name your baby whatever you want to name him/her!

I think SAHARA is beautiful!!! It's way better that some of the other stuff I've heard lately (Apple, Surri, Shiloh-yuck!).

I think it's different, but not so out there that you have to explain it all the time! & it's not so common that you call her name & 25 other kids answer (like the Caitlin, though cute, very common). But in the end, the decision is yours.

Good luck

How about....
Lynda or Lynda Caye (I don't like Caitlyn)
Martha or Martha Kay
Cayla or Kayla
Shannan (that's as close to Sahara I can get, ha)
Kaylee,kaylea,Caylea
Katy
Sahara Caye
Let the syllables sing.
All these names blend nicely with Megan & Michael
