If so, what did you redeem them for? Also, does anyone recall the name of another redemption stamp program back then (60's or so) that had a red plaid pattern and I think a Scotsmans face?

Yes! S & H green Stamps. I remember them. My Grandmother used to save them up. She would have me paste them in the "books," for her. She saved stacks and stacks. Sometimes, she would give me "a" book...ha! Grocery stores used to give them out. I probably got a "doll," or a "viewmaster." Remember the "viewmaster?" Oh, the good old days! (didn't the other stamps that you described, come from A&P or Kroger?

You could redeem them for a number of things. They had little books you could look through to choose things. Some people would take them to a centre to redeem as well; usually in larger towns. They were a lot like those Betty Crocker points you get on box tops of cereal, cake mixes, etc.

Yeah, didn't those hippies in the 60's coat them with LSD? Nah, only kidding. Yes, I remember them, but I was too young to redeem them for anything, so ask some old geezers.

S&H Green Stamps you could redem them for things in a catalog. I do remember that, cause I always wanted all the toys out of my parents catalog, I am sorry but the other I am too young to know.

I do remember S & H. Redeemed for cash I believe. I have seen the red one, but cannot remember the name.

I'm 46 and I do barely recall them. I don't remember my mom ever redeeming them.

I remember S&H green stamps, my mom saved them when I was a kid. She received them from some gas stations, etc.

Of course - I believe the Foodtown stores still give them out. I believe you are thinking about Raleigh cigarettes.
