If insects count I say fireants.
For all else it's a tossup between the big cats (tigers, leopards, lions), the great white shark, and cocodiles.

I suppose it`s easy to say humans, considering that we have the ability to kill any and everything on the planet. If you factor out all the variables i.e. environment and weapons etc then man is very low down the order. For example, if we were to find ourselves in the sea up against apex predators such as a great white or bull shark we wouldn`t stand a chance. Likewise, if we were out in the plains of Kenya in the Masai Marra, we wouldn`t stand a chance against a lion or leopard. The other thing to consider is why is the animal killing? Is it to survive or is it to compete?

I just want to point out something to everyone who's trying to be clever and saying 'Man':

We're not the best 'killing machine' at all. We just use machines to kill. Take away our technology, our guns, our explosives, our vehicles and our Weapons of Mass Destruction and what are you left with???

Pit one man, naked with no weapons or technology of any sort against, say, a Tiger or a Shark and who's going to win that one?????

Its got to be human beings... and its not just about giving a 'smart answer' - Man is the best killing machine today not because of his guns and weapons - but 'cause of his brains, that allows us to think and out think.

There's a wierd lobster thing that lives in the deepest oceans. It generates a quick charge of electricity in one of it claws and releses it in front of it's prey. Blam!!! The prey falls like it's been shot.

I don't know what the lobster thing is called tho. I saw it on BBC's Blue Planet.

1-0n-1 a Grizzly bear would batter any other animal.

It woul dobviously lose to a shark if in water, but would put up a much better fight than that shark would if it was on land
