Try spot staining by using a little bit of tape to single out the scratches then adding stain until it gets to the right color.

If you go to your local Lowe's or Home Depot, they carry a couple of products that can help. In the paint section you will find these products. They usually look like a pencil, or large crayon. They are a colored wax type substance. You run this along the scratch and use your finger, or a soft cloth, and blend into the wood. I hope this helps!

Get a grease pencil that is cherry color. Home Depot and others sell them. Furniture stores use that stuff all the time.
Nope... it's not like touching up a car... you do it with grease (wax). If you feel you must you can top coat it will a clear coat but furniture stores don't.
You mark it like a crayon and press it in hard. Then use your finger and body heat to help melt it down and level it. Gently wipe the sides with a cloth and you're done. Once it cools down below body temp, it is hard to wipe out.

You can use wood filler and sand paper.... For deep scratches and dents you can use a wet rag and an iron to steam the wood, and make it expand, the expansion may lift the deep dents out... the more water you use on the rag and the more steam the more the wood will soak in and expand, but it will only work to a point... I've done this, and mostly it works but sometimes not to the desired finish... try it in an area not easily seen to see if it works for you... you may have to touch up the varnish or polyeurethane, in the repaired areas...

They sell scratch repair stain in lots of different colors, some at supermarkets and home stores like home depot. My dog scratched my parents dark wood furniture and it worked well on it.

There are all type of products that cover scratches on wood in different shades. They are available at such stores as Wal Mart, Lowes, Home Depot, etc. If those stores are not available in your area, check with your local hardware store. :)

are the marks only in the finish or into the wood. if in the wood you will need to strip it and sand it if in the finish strip it and refinish it. these quick fixes offered in hardware stores do not blend well with older finishes and you will have discolored spots where the marks were.

there are things you can buy at a hardware store for that. But, if you have the same color crayon, that can also work!
