My proof is the way I've been treated. Anyone out there watch tv? Regis on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?". Martha Stewart on her shows. Etc.

Hate to tell you but all immigrants did not come through New York. Some of mine arrived in the 1640's.

Maria b - I didn't say they are rude I said insulting. They are condescending and need to get out of the city and see this great big country of ours.

Boy ! No kidding ! They treat the whole rest of the U.S. like red necks. I have known people from N.Y. & besides their tough attitude & crude accent they act like they "know it all" !
Thanks for bringing up the subject !
I think the most of them are very rude people !

In a recent survey on etiquette New Yorkers were rated on top. NY is a fast paced way of life and some people misunderstand if they are abrupt with others. But I don't think they mean to seem rude. See the article on the site listed below.

When you're born and raised in New York City you are taught that you live in the center of the universe That's reinforced with the financial and media headquarters located there; all the immigrants that came through the city when arriving in this country; and Jesus, Mohammed. Ghandi. Buddha have all owned co-ops here at one time or another...It's just a superiority, tunnel-vision thing...pity them...humor them...

I married a New Yorker and lived there for a couple of years. Everyone there treated me very well. I'm from Ohio, which is a cornfield.

well, to defend myself, not everyone in the country lives in a corn field, just the ones who are not up to date with technology, clothes, fashion, etc. i have a few friends living upstate NY and it amazes me how little they know about simple things like having credit cards or using the computer or going online.

It's the truth... if you're not from NYC... you don't have an understanding of how the world really is.
