If you did not go to college, than did you learn more in high school or in whatever you ended up doing? Also tell me what you did end up doing, especially you developed good social skills there.

It depends on where you live while going to college. If you live at home with your parents and just go to class then go to the library and do homework, you will have a lot more social interactions in high school. But if you move away from home to go to college and live with roommates, then you will learn a lot more soical skills in college. College also has a lot of opportunities for working with people and the social interactions you get are on a more mature level.

I ended up living with 5 other people through my first few years of college. None of us knew each other when we first moved in so there was a lot of adjustment. I also got a job as a tutor that required me to learn a lot about patience and communication. In high school I was in clubs that helped me interact with people but most of the time you would join a club because that is where all of your friends were. In college I learned to work with a wide variety of people and communicate with them to solve problems, not just to hang out.

You begin learning social skills as an infant, and the vast majority are probably learned at that time. All about the reality of the existance of others and how to interest and engage others. All about how to strive for what you want without angering or hurting others.

If you get that down part as an infant, you'll do okay and keep improving all your life.

One of the most important social skills is to tune in to those you are with. How are they reacting to what you are saying? Adjust yourself accordingly. Stay respectful, stay interested. Have something to say and ask questions. People love to talk about themselves - it's a great social tool.

College will change the way you look at the world and yourself, the way you present yourself, and your views. By all means, go.
