Because that flag represents all that is hate. That flag is about the South, but the South represents slavery and hate. You are really naive if you think there is nothing wrong with it. Look into history and you will see why everyone gets offended. If you don't know your history, then you shouldn't say anything. It's funny how only white people are answering this question. And these idiots above me who say they have black friends and they aren't offended. That is so stupid. You can't possibly know history when you don't even know how to spell. Don't apologize for being ignorant. Change it.

you favor to finish a touch analyze on the concern beforehand you style such an opinion. The Souths so observed as insurrection flag replaced into easily a warfare flag, it did not stand for slavery. the adult males who fought for the states rights of the south did not own slaves they were combating to guard the land they lived in. The warfare replaced into not fought for slavery yet to keep the union at the same time. bypass look on the decision surpassed interior the U. S. congress in 1861 that instantly out suggested the warfare replaced into not about slavery yet to guard the union. Congress surpassed this interior the early area of the warfare so no oneeveryone may recognize the position they stood. The accomplice conflict flag ought to offend no human being because it replaced into not a flag of slavery. many people say they hate it because the KKK and the Neo Nazis use it . if it really is the case them additionally they ought to hate the american flag because they use it also. As I suggested on the starting up carry out a touch analyze beforehand you down or hate something. you need to properly be shocked to make certain that between sixty 3,000 and ninety,000 thousand free blacks fought for the confederacy, i do not imagine they could were there if the warfare replaced into over slavery. all and distinctive concurs that slavery replaced into and is undesirable and the south had began to grant slaves land to sharecrop with the former masters so both can make money.

The Rebel flag is for the Rebellion of the Confederate States against the United States. That alone should be enough to deter anyone from flying it. In essence you are Against the USA when you fly it. Treason ring a bell

And yes when I see my neighbors fly it I'm scared for my little girl. She is bi-racial. She didn't have anything to do with the history of that war, yet she is made to believe by people flying that flag that she is inferior just because of her skintone. Actually she is the luckiest kid on the block, she lives with both her married parents in peace. Not something many rebels can brag about.

It symbolizes a lot of things. Some of them really nasty - like slavery, lynchings, rapes, splitting families apart, racism, bigotry, white "supremists", nazis and such.

I'm from the South too, and I have great, great grandfathers & their siblings who were soldiers in the Confederate Army. That being said, while the Stars and Bars represents that tragic Southern heritage - it also represents stuff that's some of the most evil crap ever commited on American soil.

To Good_Gushy:
The South does NOT "represents slavery and hate" any more than the North. YOU might want to check up on YOUR history too, hon.

While the Stars and Bars represent one thing to southeners, it has become symbolic of all the wrongs, real and imaginary, that Afro-Americans feel have been done to them and, because of its visibility, it becomes an easy target for activists. In this regard, it assumes the same stature as the Swastika does for Jews. Unfortunately, in today's politically correct climate, it is easy to decry flying the Confederate flag.

I think because to a lot of people it represents the oppression of blacks in the South during the Civil War. They feel that those who were for the south during that time meant to keep slaves and free blacks down without any real rights.

There are still some bigots in the South who don't seem to recognize that the Civil War is over and their side lost (the KKK for instance). When people who don't know you see you flying a rebel flag, they may think you're one of those bigots.

It offends people who detest losers. It was the flag of sucessionists and represented a breakaway republic that eventually got its a$$ handed to it.
