Once in a very long while I would watch Frontline which often has interesting stories.

One thing about pbs that rubs me wrong is that they have and had all those pledge drives and they are more commercial now than ever before. I was surprised when I saw actual commercials in between programs and not just the usual announcer saying 'such-and-such is presented by...'

so much for non-corportate tv

I typically enjoy PBS. Not that it's the only channel I watch...but I do like learning something new now and then. What drives me crazy are these ridiculous pledge drives. They used to be three or four times a year--now it seems they are every six weeks. Whole months out of the year wasted on nothing but pledge drives...no regular programming...just hours and hours of repeated mindless junk that EVERYONE has already seen on previous pledge drives.

PBS usually presents some excellent television material. I watch it a lot.

It's wonderful. The shows are educational and they show classics like Anne of Green Gables.....My children watch it every saturday. I just wish they had kids programming on Sunday as well.

It should no longer be funded by the government. They can stand on their own, and if not, then they don't need to be on the air anymore... there are plenty of cable channels with the same programming available to everyone.

Great programs. I have learned more from their dramas than from all the junk on commercial TV.
