I've enjoyed these books from the first & I have all of them so I can "re-read" at will. I think the first is probably my favorite - but the later books all have their own virtues too. And yes, Roger is pretty special! The whole series has been pretty awesome because of the detail she packs into the books. Pretty incredible for a first time author!

I absolutely love that series! I am in the middle of the 4th book right now. My favorite is definitely the original, "Outlander." This is the type of series that I just can't get out of my head. I don't consider myself to be a fan of romance novels, but this series is so much more than that. It is a different time period, it is full of adventure and twists and turns... and it is very informative above all else. I love it! And I love Jamie.

My favorite would be "Outlander," the first in this series. When I read it several years ago, I didn't know that there would be any others in the series, which definitely would have changed my reading experience. At the end of the first, who knew that they would get back together?
Now readers are aware that there is a series with both characters, and, even though that is truly something to be thankful for, it is just not the same as reading that one book standing along with no sequels.
My favorite character would be brave, intelligent, plucky Claire, who has loved her families and had adapted to many situations just to follow the man she loves.

I comprehend what you recommend approximately being anal approximately examining books you will possibly in comparison to. I study way too many comments of books earlier I commit to examining. What did I do earlier Amazon? :) yet, i would not call the comments of An Echo in the Bone disastrous; on Amazon there are 234 5 celeb rankings and fifty 9 one celeb rankings. The vast majority are 3 stars and up. I truthfully have study all the Books ;) , I nevertheless love Outlander the ideal, yet Voyager, (e book 3) is a precise 2nd. i admire all of them. i don't locate them self-indulgent. Diana Gabaldon is a descriptive author, yet having study Outlander you recognize that. yet they are additionally action packed, so i detect myself racing by the descriptions to get to the end result, and then I re-study and detect the e book in a very new way. examining is such an own determination, what one likes yet another would not. (i think of a few are prejudiced against the Outlander sequence as a results of fact they are categorized as type fiction, (variously, romance, sci-fi, or myth), as adversarial to literary fiction.) i think of that in case you so love Outlander, you will possibly desire to choose for the completed sequence.

Oh that's like trying to pick between my own children! I love the Outlander series - and each one of them is special in its own way.
I can't choose. I just can't. I like how smoothly the first two books flow, but there's a lot to like in Voyager too.
But I can't really pick any of those because my favorite character is probably Roger and he really doesn't become a major player in the story until Book 4!

Outlander, the first, is best. The first of a series is usually best because only if it is really good will there be a readership for any further novels. Another example of this is Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series; One for the Money, the first, is best.

My mother loves that series! Her favorite is the first, she is taking her time reading Voyager because she says it's so addictive that she'll lose sleep and neglect her kids if she starts it in the middle of work. ; )
