A mixture of 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water is the best way to clean a drip coffee maker. Mix a full pot of the vinegar and water mixture, pour it in your water reservoir and turn the coffee maker on.
Once the mixture has run completely through, turn the drip coffee maker off and let it cool for 15 to 20 minutes.
Pour the vinegar and water mixture down the drain. If you are cleaning a coffee maker that hasn't been cleaned regularly, repeat this step again with a fresh vinegar and water mixture.
Next, rinse the pot out thoroughly with warm, plain water. Then, fill the water reservoir again with clean water and turn the coffee maker on to start the rinsing process.
To make sure all of the vinegar and water solution is completely gone repeat the rinsing process one more time after letting the pot cool for 15 to 20 minutes.
This is how to clean a coffee maker the right way. Cleaning your drip coffee maker on a monthly basis will make it last longer and keep your coffee tasting the best it can possibly be.

Run vinegar thru it like you are making coffee but don't use coffee or the filter pour the vinegar in the pot with the water and run it through the maker you can do this a couple of time then just run clean water thru it it will make the coffee a lot faster after doing this you can also use CLR you can buy this at a lot of the store.

Dipit makes a coffee pot cleaner but you can try a cup of vinegar and run it through as if you are making coffee. Then run clear water through for another cycle.
The hot vinegar water is good for cleaning your bath tub or sink faucets also.

A vinegar cycle like most people are saying is also effective in removing hard-water scales on the heater coils. Ammonia (household) works well on dark residues. To clean the inside of a coffee pot or thermos use a couple of tablespoons of household ammonia and a couple of tablespoons rock salt and shake well.

You can put a couple of capfuls of bleach in the pot, fill it with water and let it stand for about an hour, that will take out all the grody brown stains and oil that make your coffee taste like it was brewed through Yao Ming's jockstrap. Dump the water out and wash it inside and out with a washrag just to get the residue out; rinse and you're done.

Run white vinegar through it maybe twice if you've never cleaned it. Put about 1-2 cups in it and turn it on. After you've run the vinegar through, run it twice with just water. It should get any deposits left inside it, and it will be clean. Just do it about once a month, or if it needs it sooner, you'll be able to tell...
