My fiance` just had our son about 7 months ago, and I know that it's a very common side effect that you lose some hair, but her hair is EVERYWHERE! Don't get me wrong, it's not like she's going bald, or even thinning... It's aggrevating because her hair is long, and we keep finding these stray hairs everywhere we are (bathroom, car, bed, furniture)! Does any one have any suggestions as to a suppliment/vitamin that will help stop this?

My hair fell out like crazy after i had my twins. I dont know if it was from the anesthesia or what. So did my moms when she had us. But it didnt last more than a month or two.
There are vitamins for hair and nails. Did she continue taking her prenatal vitamins after the baby was born? That would help.
If its really bad mayb check with a doc to be on the safe side. My hair sheds a lot too.

First, congratulations on new baby. This hair phenom is actually very common. When I had my son, my breaking point was when I say my hair on the counter when trying to prepare my baby's food. So I cut my hair a good 2 inches off because since the body is no longer receiving all that blast of hormone as it was when pregnant, it is coming down from that high. So cutting the hair a good few inches removes split ends, allows more comfortable combing/brushing and find a good moisturing deep conditioning to strenghten the hair with all the protein it received during pregnancy.
Within 2 weeks, I felt better but have have her consult with her hair stylist because not all hair are created equal/same. Good luck.

it's actually quite common. Some woman don[t start losing hair until later due to hormaones and breast feeding....Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting". It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

Hey congrates for the baby.
yes, hair fall normal after baby but if its too much then i would suggest you take few particular actions:
1. first go n have a blood test know as "Vitamin B12 in serum".
2. If the report is below normal or even on lower site of normal limit. Then i would you to visit a doctor and start a course of injection.
3. The name of Injection is "VICTOFOL" here in India.
4. The test may a bit costly. But its very much required. It cost me around rs. 1000/- here in India.
Bye .........

I am pregnant with my 4th child and had this on my first 3. It is very common. It is caused by the changing hormones in her body. One thing that may help is for her to keep taking her prenatal vitamins. I kept taking them after my 3rd because I nursed her and we wanted to have another baby pretty soon after. And it did seem to minimize the hair loss.
Congratulations!

It's just a change in hormones, or a hormone in balance...something like birth control would help this situation better than vitamins. it's a normal thing to happen, some women loose a lot of hair, others none at all.. call the obgyn that she went to they can prescribe her a pill, or they will just tell her it is normal and wait till her body balances.

my hair started falling out about 2 months after i had my son...i didnt know that was normal...i thought it was just from all the stress i went through with my ex and leaving him....so my solution was to just cut it up to my shoulders...i had medium length hair and it was everywhere to the point i couldnt take it anymore...i cut it and havent had any other problems with it....im not sure if there's a vitamin she could take bc its prolly going to fall out anyways....but have her call her doctor...he might be able to suggest something
