The image of a secure man in contemporary US soceity and a "model" for a developing male is not clear and elusive. Becoming secure with ones gender is important to feel comfortable with the self. What are the characteristics that are important to assimilate into a personality that result in a secure self? Especially for men!

Just be yourself. That's the only way to go. Don't try to change for society. It will disappoint you everytime. If you are a shy, laid back person who doesn't like to go "clubbing". That is fine. There is nothing wrong with that. What you are and what you like defines who you are. If you pretend to be what you are not, sooner or later, the true you will emerge and you will more than likely find out that the person you are trying to impress will like the real you better. We already have a Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Tom Brokaw and Fabio. They can be themselves perfectly. The world needs you and see what you can bring to the table.

You can blame society or whatever you'd like, but it really comes from within. If you're not comfortable with who you are, you've got serious work to do.
