Apparently dog food manufacturers are no longer putting animal bones in their products which was the reason that it looked white.

This question comes up a lot. For the record I wander the streets at dawn picking it all up and putting it in a little basket. I then take the basket home and empty the contents into a bowl. I then grind up the dessicated faeces into a fine white powder. The next thing I do is take a ten pound note, rolled up tight and snort the lot up my nose. After that I'm great fun to be around, the life and soul of the party and I can keep going all night long. Dancing on the ceiling.

Because over the years the dog food manufacturers have changed their recipes. Therefore todays dogs are being fed a different recipe that doesn't produce white droppings. Case closed!

Because years ago, dog food used to made up of a lot of bone and gristle - it is now a lot better. It is the bone and other added nasties which makes the droppings appear white as they are exposed to elements on the pavement etc.

White dog poo was caused by the weathering of dog excrement rich in bone meal. Modern dog food contains much more vegetable protein than before, which leads to healthier droppings.

a great childhood memory,
fortunately or unfortunately depending on your outlook this is due to responsible dog owners, cleaning up after their pets.
although the white one is extremely elusive, i did come across what many have come to call the Holy Grail of droppings,
just two weeks ago at the bottom of my garden my dog had left a deposit hidden away from my mortal eyes,
When i came across it i almost wept for joy, as the white mould bristled in the summer air.
I barely took control of my emotions and deftly picked it up in a bag,
taking great care not to break it i ran towards my kids to show them, as they may never get the chance to view this miraculous vision again in their lives.
They gasped! and ran to thank our dog.
I beamed with satisfaction at giving them this visual gift! and with great care i disposed of this rare find to the bottom of the wheelie bin.
They now sleep soundly at nights knowing that they have viewed a true wonder of the natural world.

Cause when I was younger, I roamed the country spraying all dog poop with my little bleach spraybottle. I grew up & got a job and have not yet found a replacement. i was like Jonny Appleseed.
Yep, those where the days.
