maybe they just want to get points or they are annoying people.

Some people are just *******. And, some people may be interested in what the person is trying to say but don't understand and want clarification. Also, some questions are really stupid and the people are letting that person know they should think before they ask dumb stuff; depending on how they say it it's not a mean response...it's keeping that person from looking dumb as hell to the rest of the world. On the other side of that, why do people ask dumb questions? Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer.

The people are bored and it's easy to pick on someone they don't even know. Just like they might not like the questions they see and wanna complain, you might see their answers and feel a need to complain. No need. It's just par for the course that you will get dumb answers when you ask any question here. There are so many different people out there.
What's nice is the people who DID give good answers. I hope there were some. I think all of the answers that you've gotten so far on THIS particular question have been very nice and well thought out and civil. They even gave advice on your original question.
There are some nice people out there, and it's nice they're taking the time to give you free advice. Such is the fun of Yahoo Answers..

I can't really answer your question, I don't know why people do it. But I have a theory...
I think there is a real value in this. I reckon at least one person will give you a good answer, and the others will waste your time. Look upon this as a brilliant lesson about life - the majority of people in the world ARE time-wasting idiots, and this is getting proved to you every time this happens.
I reckon that is a very good life lesson, that the majority of people are jerks.
Unless you knew that already, of course, in which case yes it is annoying!

The only time that I actually say a question is dumb is if it is. A question about how much it costs for a tattoo is not a dumb question; if you didn't get an answer, then here it is: it depends upon the size of the tattoo and the design. The more color, the more money, the bigger the tattoo, the more money. But usually they range about $50 and up.

Because people want to give their opinion whether it's asked for or not. Everyone considers their ideas & opinions to be important. Sometimes they misread the question, or misinterpret it, or whatever, but don't take the time to review the question and their response to it.
With regard to your tatoo question, I suspect that there were some people who just wanted to save you some money (that's called re-framing the issue ;-))

You're right, but there are a lot of jerks in the world, and it would seem that most of them have computers and a lot of time on their hands. And then there are those who will post anything just to get 2 points. I could understand that if you somehow would get something for these points, but just to have them? I understand your frustration and feel the same way, but I think these people actually get some sort of sick pleasure out of doing this, and I don't think they're going to stop because they don't seem to mind being viewed as idiots.

I know what you mean. I asked a health question and was accused of having an abortion! (Which had nothing to do with my question!!) I think people see all the questions as invitations to answer or give an opinion. I only answer ones that interest me. Yours struck a chord with me. I don't know the cost of tattoos-but I would call a tattoo business near me and ask-they would be most helpful.

Because some people just consider this a platform for them to give their opinion on any topic regardless of whether it was asked for or not. When this happens to me, I don't think of it negatively tho, I'm just happy that at least someone looked at my question and considered it. If the answer they gave is just their little rant, well that's OK too!

People are small minded. They see their own viewpoint and noone else's.
On a side note tattoos can vary. The one that i have on my ankle is small and it cost me $75 but the two I bought for my boyfriend are pretty big and only cost $225. Make sure though that they are a reputable tattoo shop.
Good luck!! :)

personally I don't freak out when I see a question I don't like ... I just pass by it and answer a different one.
I think those that just answer 'that's a stupid question', are basically just trying to score a quick 2 points ... it's easier than answering the questions that require more thought.
