Because not enough good people voted in 2000 or 2004 to prevent him from stealing the election.
Vote for, work for, and if you can donate to Democratic candidates this fall. This nightmare has to end, but only we can save ourselves.

He does want to use technology for improve our lives, what he doesnt want to do is chase everything that is labled technelogical for that reason alone.

If killing embryos for these studies was so promising, and so much better than every other kind of stem cell research they have made leaps and bounds with, why arent any private investers willing to give money to the cause?

Thats how this works you know, companies go to their private investers, explain how marvelous this new techonology will be, and the investers give them money for the sake of it paying off at some point when the research has resulted in a new medication, or whatever the study is for.

This isnt about the research, this is about the politics of making it okay one little bit at a time to kill a living human thing for science. If they can get federal funding (IE our tax money, even those who dont support it at all) for their studies on this sort of thing, then later they can justify their actions in studying fetus' aborted for science.

If you support these studies so strongly, please, by all means, rally together with the others who agree with you and pool your money for these companies.

Just be aware that people who professionally invest in medical studies dont find this promising. Although they readily invest in other stem cell research.

Be educated before all else. Otherwise you're just throwing a fit for not getting your way.

Whenever he talks he dribbles complete ****. Slave to technology? has he not been awake the last 50 years?

the problem with bush is he is narrow minded. he doesnt stop to consider what it would be like to have a kid with a disease and how much this technology could help him lead a happy healthy life.

i bet if it effected his life personally he would be leading the charge

people in positions of power ABSOLUTELY MUST take into consideration the benefits versus the downsides and what it would mean for the community as a whole. they should make sure they are making a decision based on all the facts

President Bush is very much pro life, this is an issue that will divide people, but he warned when he took office that he would veto this legislation, and he kept his word. You should be grateful that you have a President that has a moral backbone, takes a stand and sticks to it. Stem cell research will go on, and advances will be made.

Sitting here at my personal home computer makes me think he is crazier than ever. And I think my sister is fused to her Blackberry. Aren't we already slaves to technology? Even the Amish have given in to a degree. Why shouldn't we go all the way? We (human beings) are probably the product of some cell tampering anyway.
Just more crap from under the Bush.

Giving in to stem cell research is becoming a slave to sin. Abortion is sin. Technology as a result of that, is insane.

It strikes me as akin to refusing medical schools cadavers to study the body and practice upon.

Science cannot move into the future with a President whose brain is in the Dark Ages.

Besides, George did terrible in science class.

Bush has little concern for science or technology after all he is critical of Al Gore and his warring's of global warming. In my opinion of Bush the best part of him went down his fathers leg.

Science is the engine of progress for a country (and humanity). It's what puts a country ahead of other countries and over the long term, it's what puts their economy ahead of other countries. To reject, hamper or restrict science is to launch a direct attack on a country's competitiveness.
Bush is a slave to the right wing extremists who pull his puppet strings.
