The best thing to do is to keep your skin clean and cool. Take a few showers a day to keep your skin cool. Lotion will clog up your pores and make the burning worse. Do you have access to an aloe plant? Pure aloe (cut a spear from the plant open and rub the aloe on the burn) will work wonders.

Any lotion with a high concentration of Aloe Vera. They have some aloe vera lotions specifically for sunburns. Look around the pharmacy where the sunscreen is and you should find some.

Besides aloe to cool the skin, it is good to have an aspirin before you go to bed. When I get a sunburn sometimes my head hurts as my face is so hot and uncomfortable, an aspirin will help you to sleep with the discomfort. Also if you swell up at all from the burn, especially on the face, take Benadryl. Other than that, I guess you just have to wait it out.

Sorry but it is something that may take a day or so ONLY to go away.. that is.... most of the hurt to go away. Keep away from warm or hot showers and shower in cool water ONLY. When showering.. attempt to use little or no soap as the Alkaline in the soap sometimes aggravates the sunburned skin. I use aloe as pure as one can get.... I always have aloe plants at my house and when burned.. cut off a branch of it and rub the burn area with the aloe branch...

vinegar will take the heat out of the sunburn. Mom always made us stand there while she wiped us down with a towel soaked in it. Then we would have to let it dry, and then go take a cool shower. Then she would put Aloe with Lidocaine on us. Cocoa butter or Shea butter will help keep your skin moisturized so hopefully you won't peel.

Try aloe Gel. I know that Solarcane has a brand out there, but you can get any kind from your grocery store, etc. Usually the gell is a bright blue or green, and not only does it moisturize, it makes you feel better because it's got an ingredient to cool you down, like mentholated cough drops.

Go with pure aloe, straight from the plant. Lotions often contain additives such as fragrance and preservatives which will act as an irritant.

I've been told that vinegar works, but I've never tried it. Just keep your skin as moist as possible, even if that means going through half a bottle of aloe vera a day!

Don't put lotion on it.
cool (not cold) water is best. Showers or damp towels. Aloe vera if you must do anything.
