Yes, I'm aware of the ignorance in my country. The country's ignorance was made more evident to me after they voted Bush into the oval office for a second term. I thought we were smarter than that! Our children do not score as highly as children in other countries do, on similar exams. Children in other countries know more about our Constitution, Bill of Rights and History than our own children.
Slavery. Yes, we are slaves. We work more hours, have less vacation time and less time off work than people in other countries. We are slaves to making money, paying for over-priced cars, gas, food items, clothing, housing, etc. We are slaves to our work in exchange for items we may not need!
Poverty. Yes, we have poverty. When I teach, I see kids for whom I have to buy school supplies, I have to make sure they have breakfast and I have to make sure to send them to the nurse for bathing. We have a big population of homeless people...many of whom are our veterans. Shame on us!
Point well made. Some of us are striving to improve the conditions in this country. However, we need more of our money to stay in the US. Unfortunately, a lot of it goes to wars in other countries and to help other countries.
