i think it's because America is only a little over 200 years old plus it's made from so many different cultures ....

im from malta (europe) and we start learning about our culture since we are kids at school .... on the other hand we suck at sports:/

Some do, some don't. There are a lot of Americans compared to most European countries and many value the things you mention. Europeans seem to value quality of life more than quick profits and working yourself to death. And you're more likely to find a janitor in France visiting a museum than watching Oprah or Springer. The bathing and armpit hair are old stereotypes.

Perhaps because we are still the "teenagers" of the world-- we don't have some of the ancient history that other countries (such as Europe) may have. I can't believe that ALL Americans are less lacking than Europeans though--I've met any number of Europeans whose interest in such things is far less than my own.

because 90% are rednecks and are raised with no class or appretion for art, culture, etc.
