If that's what you want to do, yes. Go to a good clean tattoo artist and choose carefully want you want on your body, it will be there for the rest of your life. By the way, I'm 62 and have 10 of them each one means something in my life.

Do you want to have a tatoo which stays the same colour, at the same position of your body, forever till you are dead? It is like a permanent scar on your skin that don't "go away". When your skin wrinkles, it will look horrible.

If you say you can remove it later on, what is the use of tatooing at the start? This tatoo may even hinder you in your future job-hunting trips. Why? To your prospective employers, you will look like an hooligan to them.

So, think carefully of the advantages and disadvantages before you decide on whether you want to tatoo.

Find an old man (over 70) with a tattoo and ask if he's glad he has the faded, unrecognizeable blur on his arm or chest.

Many many many girls find tattoos are a turn-off.

Can you get one of the henna tattoos--those look amazing and are not a lifetime sentence (or don't require painful surgical removal later on).

Wait until you are older--you either will lose your desire to have on, or have it put on older skin--so it won't look so faded as you age.

There is NOTHING original out there...And make sure it can't be seen. I thought I got mine in a place it couldn't be seen ..Way up on my arm under my sleeve but then I married a man who requires a lot of functions that I have to wear formals to .. So unfortunately my tat shows when I wear the dresses... SO figure out some other place for "just in case"

If you have to ask, then you shouldn't get one. You should be positive you want one, and know exatly what you want before you get one. I think it's just because you turned 18, and now you CAN get one that you think you SHOULD get one. Think about how it's gonna look on you when you are 40, or 50 years old.

A tattoo doesn't belong on anyone who uses the word 'shall'.
