Running lights are a safety precaution. In many states (and in all of Canada) running lights are mandatory on vehicles.

This is to help OTHER people see your car or motorcycle clearer, day or night.

The reason for lights on during the day is for safety. You might haver noticed some cars and trucks now come with daytime running lights. And most big trucks are required by there companies to run with lights on for insurance purposes. Safety, Safety, Safety. lol

A lot of states have it as a law. It's because people in cars are blind, and a motorcyclist needs to do pretty much everything they can to be visible.

I used to work across the street from a fire station, and with how many times I saw idiot drivers almost hit FIRE TRUCKS (huge red fire trucks, with lights and sirens on!), I think we motorcyclists need to realize that our bikes are pretty much invisible to 95 percent of the drivers out there. ESPECIALLY if they're talking on the damn phone!

Most new bikes are made that way. The head lights are always on. This is a safety feature. It makes the biker more visible.

To make themselves more visible, you're a lot more vulnerable on a bike and other road users are more careless.
