On NYPD Blue - What happened to that woman and the kid?

If you watch NYPD Blue you can help me - Sipowitz (spell) was married to an older woman that became an ADA and had his child - then I missed an entire season and Sipowitz was trying to adopt the neice/nephew or that blonde cop that use to be Eve on Days of Our Lives - what happened to that other woman?

Sylvia, his wife, was a district attorney and one day at the courthouse some psycho took out a gun and was shooting it. She got shot and died. Connie was his co worker and they started seeing each other and got married. The girl he was adopting, was Connie's sisters baby, who also died from being beat up from her boyfriend. Connie stepped in to care for her baby. I was a fan too.
