I need to know, being a major coward, how long I have to leave the box on it before it is dead.

It actually depends from what height you have dropped the box on the cockroach and the final momentum with which it hit the insect. However, chances are that the cockroach will survive the impact and you have to use a worn out footwear to squash it to death. It will be easy since the cockroach would have lost its agility and mobility due to the impact of the box.

Very carefully go over to the box.
Place your hands around the box.
Very quickly pick up the box and then just as quickly drop it down again.
Follow this procedure about five times and then wait 5 days.
I am sure it will be dead then.

lol this is an extremely funny question. That cockroach won't die. Or at least i don't expect it too. Cockroaches can survive freakin nuclear bombs im sure it can survive a box.

You have just now scattered its eggs across your kitchen floor and into the 2.5 kilo bottom of the box of tide.
BLEACH everywhere and call in Pest Control. Them things multiply like nobodies business and you don't just get ONE cockroach.. you get a battalion of them

Don't expect it to die anytime soon. Cockroaches can live days with even their heads off.

The likeliest scenario is that the cockroach will eat its way through the cardboard.

You'll be waiting a long time, I'm afraid, and they're pretty crafty bugs, and pretty durable too... he might make his way out.
My recommendation... take a stiff piece of cardboard and slide it under, catching the little bugger... and then chuck him outsde.

well it can live for 30 days if you chop its head off then it will die off starvation. So unless you squash it rather than just trap it 30 days !

even if you chopped of its head it will still live untill it starves to death in about 2 weeks
