Not all teams have their own planes. The bigger market teams do. Also, it would depend on the distance that some teams have to travel. Teams like the Mets, when playing the Phillies, will travel by bus, at least once a year, to save money, depending on if they play at shea the day before and have a break in schedule..(night game or day off the day before playing next). The yankees and mets...whitesox and cubs....dodgers and angels..giants and a's all travel by bus to each others stadiums when playing each other in intra league games.

Many teams have their own planes, and those that don't will take chartered flights. I'm not sure about the benefits of each, other than that more players probably feel "at home" in a team-owned plane that they're not sharing with others.

No, actually none of them do. All teams have some sponsorship affiliate with a commercial airline that will charter them a flight whenever they need it. These flights are not open to the public. Some players however have there own planes.

Some do but most teams use chartered jets. They don't buy the planes.

Some do, some don't. Cost conscious teams often have to fly commercially.
