My sister was sliding in softball and she had tucked her leg differently since she was hit in the ankle, and the way she had her leg tucked caused her knee to twist and pop. Now she is experiencing a lot of pain on right side of her left knee, and she has trouble bending her knee and walking because it hurts so much. We are very worried and are wondering if anyone knows what could be wrong and what can we do. Thanks

Is there swelling? Does it hurt on touching the spot? If yes, its a fracture and needs immediate medical attention. The more you delay, the more complicated it will be.
But before you take her to the doctor, arrange something for giving support to her knee with out changing its position. If the knee moves while you take her to the doctor, not only it will cause your sister more pain but also cause further injury.

If not, then it may be a simple sprain and you can relax a bit. Arrange for an ice pack, and put it on her knee, it will ease a lot of pain. Then try massage the knee. If she cannot bear the pain, take her to the doctor.

My boyfriend had the same pain in his knee yesterday after knocking knees with his friend playin basketball. He stood up a certain way and it "pop" back in place. He said it didn't hurt but he has a high tolerance of pain. I don't know if your sister is the same or not. She should try some ICY HOT if that does work in a couple dayz and it gets worst then I really would want to to take her to the Doctor or hospital to get some X-rays. Good Luck. I hope your sister's knee Gets better. God Bless

She should visit her doctor. The popping could indicate a torn tendon, meniscus, or at the very least some seriously torn muscles. She probably has a bad sprain of her knee, but only a doctor will know for sure. A doc can help set her up with physical therapy too to make sure she heals correctly.

Sounds like she has some severe swelling. She may have injured her knee pretty bad. She needs to see a doctor and possibly have her knee x-rayed.

Put ice on her knee right now... elevate it and give her some tylenol or motrin. Then get her to the dr.'s asap! It could be just a bad sprain or something more serious. Either way, she needs medical attention.

I've experienced this type of injury before and I can DEFINITELY say that your Sister needs an x-ray performed. Also, if your Orthopedic Surgeon has access, he/she might want to do an MRI as well.

Good luck. Sports injuries are the worst. =^)

What an idiot... Do you live in the backwoods? Get her to a doctor or an emergency room. Why do people ask for such advice on here?
