The story is scripted if that's what you mean...to get proof, go to www.wrestleview.com and tell your brother about how the Spirit Squad is going to break up and watch that actually happen in a couple of weeks.

However, it is not fake, per se, because every wrestler is a great athlete besides all the gigantic freaks like The Great Khali. They get hurt, just not as much as if they fought in a bar or something.

well here's the thing. The hits and all of that are mostly real. The outcome is not. Most all of the matches have a predetermined winner. Many wrestlers have talked about it in interviews. CHeck out Bret hart wrestling with shadows. He talks about it a bit. Most of the blood the guys will lance themselves. Watch very carefully. When you know what to look for you will never miss it again. My children even pick up on it. The will say dad HHH is gonna cut himself.

Is it fake? No.

The falls are real, the blood is real, the kicks are real, and the slaps are real.

However, the "winner" of the match is predetermined and the matches are somewhat scripted (We'll do your thing, we'll do my thing, you start to do your thing again, but I counter and win).

That's why - starting in the mid 80's - professional wrestling started calling itself Sports ENTERTAINMENT. Because there was too much "controversy" over whether or not the matches were real matches - like a boxing match - or were they scripted.

Also that's why the WWE stand for World Wrestling Entertainment.

I wouldn't say fake. The moves are real. Some of them don't hurt as much as they make it look, and some do. The key word here is 'scripted', meaning pre-planned. For the most part, the wrestlers fighting each other don't really have a vendetta against each other in real life. Undertaker doesn't go around burying people and carrying an urn in real life.

It's both
The damage the wrestlers take is greater than when Hulk Hogan was the biggest super stars in the wwf. All the stunts they take are real but they are taught to land them just right so the don't get really hurt bad
The story lines are fake and who wins the matches are fixed

In professional wrestling, kayfabe (pronounced KAY-fayb; IPA: ['keɪfeɪb]) refers to the portrayal of events within the industry as real, that is the portrayal of professional wrestling as not staged or worked. Referring to events as kayfabe means that they are worked events, and/or part of a wrestling storyline. In relative terms, a wrestler breaking kayfabe during a show would be likened to an actor breaking character on camera.
