Then you are almost dead. I believe, unless you're scared half to death 2 times back to back, that you recover some of your life in time. That's a cool question though

You could technically get scared 'half to death' and never die...
100% / 2 = 50%
50% / 2 = 25%
25% / 2 = 12.5%
12.5% / 2 = 6.25%
6.25% / 2 = 3.125%
3.125% / 2 = 1.5625%
you see?
This way of thinking makes sense because if you were to take a line segment and continually divide it into two, keeping only one of the pieces, the length of the line segment will approach zero as the order approaches infinity.
If anyone knows the name of this theorem, that would be really helpful... I just can't seem to remember it.
It has to do with fractals, I know that...

You would still have a quarter life in you...
Let's say life can be measured in points... we'll give you, say, 100 (all very Dungeons and Dragons-esque, wouldn't you say?)
If, with your 100 life points, you were scared half to death (say, your mother-in-law walks in while you're groping your wife), that would leave you with 50 life points.
If, immediately following this horrific experience, you were scared AGAIN, half to death (you walk in on your mother being groped by your father) ... well, you'd STILL have 25 life points.
So, TECHNICALLY... you could keep getting scared half to death forever... or until you ran out of life points from OTHER activities... say, getting beaten by your father in law for walking in on them.
Hope that helps!

The phrase 'half to death' means from your current location in relation to death.
If you are scared half to death, and then scared half to death again without being given time to recover, then the second time you are only scared a quater to death from your original location. If you are scared half to death again without being given time to recover, then you are scared an eighth to death from your original location. Then a sixteenth, and a thirty-second and so on. This means, of course, that it's impossible to die from being scared half to death.

Then you are 25% alive. Half of 100% is 50%. Half of 50% is 25%.
