I live in Brisbane.
Things to do:
- City catamaran trip, you get to travel along the Brisbane river, some beautiful scenery there.
- Koala Sanctuary park, if you love these adorable creatures
- Fortitude Valley and New Farm for the best nightlife scenes, cafes and good selection of restaurants: Western, pub food, italian, chinese (a lot!), thai (a lot), indian, malaysian, cambodian, indonesian, nepalese and even Tibetan!
- Southbank parkland, nice walks along the river
- Not sure about story bridge climb, but if you are into climbing bridges, then this is a good experience.
- Regent Theatre cinema, on Queen Street Mall, they charge a bit more but the cinema has nice interior design, very Victorian.
- North Stradbroke island, a nice getaway from Brisbane, beautiful!
- Gold Coast, if you like a well-developed beach area, and consequently, a lot of tourist traps!

Best time to come, well, depending what sort of whether you like. Winter is nice, as Brisbane does not get 'real' winter. 50-70 F is the temp during June to August. Spring is a bit warmer. Summer in Brisbane is just hot hot hot, especially around Christmas time (low is around low 70s Farenheit, but the high can go all the way to 100. Low 90s is common during day time).

There is this Brisbane River festival every mid to end of September. BEAUTIFUL FIREWORKS along the river. Not sure if the exact date has been set yet, but you can check on www.ourbrisbane.com, a lot of information about what's happening in brisbane. Excellent website.

Brisbane is a great city. Enjoy!
