The Maori nation was one of those fierce island tribes that gave John Bull a bad time. They built hill forts like the early Celtic tribes, they took heads for trophy's,and were known to eat the hearts of thier fiercest opponents to increase their "Mana".The used spears and jade hand axes before colonial times, and held ritual dances before battle to impress and frighten their enemies. They were defeated by alcohol and greed.
