Where I am from in Australia we have huntsman spiders.
Huge hairy things that come inside.
My skin is crawling as I think of it.
There are also lots of others here too, but its the hairy ones that give me the creeps.
Half a can of insect spray and about 12 whacks with a broom finally finishes them off.
(sorry to all the animal lovers and environmentalists but I just can't sleep if there is one in the house!)

The orb spider, similiar in look to the banana spider, that is found all over Florida, especially when you are mountain biking and you fly into a web that was spread across the trail, the body is narrow, but the leg span can be bigger than a human head! Yuck!!!

There is presently a black & yellow spider that has an approximate 6 inch leg span weaving it's web in my garden. Looks pretty darn big to me! Yikes.

I tried to spray it with water from the hose, in retaliation it quickly & methodically chewed up several strands of it's web & then later re-strung them. sheesh.
