To prevent yourself from getting bitten apparently eating Marmite does the trickthe little bliters hate it! Not sure if you'll be able to get it where you are though! I have also heard eating garlic will help too, which is probably more accessable for you.

To treat the bites yes, toothpaste should soothe as it contains a mild antiseptic.

For future reference buy Jungle formula pump action spray. I travel to the New Teritories on Hong Kong every year, which is full of mosquitos and this is the only stuff that stops them biting me. Deet is the main ingredient which they don't like so anything withthat in will be effective.

Hope this helps :-)

Don't wear dark colours or cologne/perfume. See if you can find Calmine lotion. It helps the itch. You could try lemon juice. I hear that lemon scented plants discourage mosquitos. I also read something about peppermint helping. I also read that having a diet with a lot of vitamin B helps. If worse comes to worse, stop bathing all together. It shoulds like your pretty remote anyway or seeing as you have access to the internet, order some OFF or citronella online and have it delivered if even remotely possible.

Alcoholic liquids do the trick pretty well. They sell products like AFTER-BITE which are made mostly of Isopropyl alcohol.
Just pour some right onto the bite site, the alcohol itself will numb the site, and as it evaporates, it will cool the wound significantly.
Hope that helps!

Seriously, Saliva helps, give it a try. Keep reapplying it for half an hour or so. It stops the itching and the swelling will go down quickly.

But make sure nobody watches you doing it, they might think you are weird...

Do they have calamine lotion? That seems to take the itch out of mosquito bites.

Nex time...bring some Avon Skin So Soft Bug Guard. I use the spray and don't get bit by anything.

Heat from a towel dipped in very hot water will neutralize the poison.

attempt utilising calamine lotion or "afterbite" on your mosquito bites. it sounds weird and wonderful yet particularly of scratching them you would possibly want to slap them in the journey that they are itchy... they're going to bypass away formerly in case you scratch
