Did you stick with it long? Was it fun? Any interesting/funny stories about your childhood paper route?

I took on three paper routes when I was a pregnant teen. I decided I needed the money and the exercise. It was good way to keep fit and earn some extra money. I had bought a big old fashioned pram for my baby earl in the pregnancy I would load the papers in the pram and push it around delivering local papers.

My sister and I each had our own routes at a time when few girls had one. I don't remember how long I had it. I remember wearing white shorts and a top, and carrying papers under my arm. What a black mess on me when I got home.
One windy day, I thought I'd leave a small stack of papers on someone's open front porch while I ran house to house with a few to deliver. I must have thought the papers would stay right there, what a mess. I'm sure some never got their whole paper.
One patron always hid in the house and wouldn't answer the door when I'd come to collect for the money.

From age 11 to 14. During the summer, I took 3 or 4 routes including one from the rival newspaper. Up at 5:00, done by 7:00, left lots of time for hanging out and made decent $ by early-teen standards.

i had one.

i did it together with a friend, we had great fun during the round. (wasn't a morning paper)

i remember the new years, then we got to go visit all the houses and get tips everywhere (we would make at least $200,- each)

we did it for 2 years (it only sucked when it rained)

I had two. Moved away from the first one. Broke my knee on the second one. On the whole they were good. Lousy tippers though...
