Well, there goes the neighborhood. They drive their damn wagons all over town, let their horses block traffic and sit around making stuff out of wood. They get together and make a ruckus at their “Barn-raising” party, they don’t even care that you need a permit to build that. There used to me only 4 barns in the whole county, now there’s 104. This used to be a good family community, now the school children have to deal with pressure from the Amish kids bad influence- “come on, butter-churning is cool, it makes you feel great, all the cool Amish kids are doing it, just TRY it”. Pretty soon, one of my kids might be drawn into the Amish “lifestyle”, the other day I found several handmade wooden chairs in his room. He says he was just experimenting but I know something is wrong. He gets up at 5 am every morning and tries to milk the dog. This is out of control, we need congress to pass a law and send these Amish back to wherever they came from. They take all the butter-churning, wood furniture and barn building jobs away from true Americans.

I know this was written as a joke. We can only benefit by learning some of the original heritage wood cabinetry. If all of the illegal aliens take all of the jobs that factories are offering, it may be a good thing that your children do join the Amish, at least he'd be marketable. You could charge money for their photos and sell the furniture they make.

The best you can do for them taking over your community is to be understanding and mind your own business. I remember when y'all complained about prayer in the school, if you take away butter churning, it will definitely begin the decline of mankind. They could be raising burning crosses on your lawn rather than barns. Leave them alone.

Oh well, you may find that they're not all cutthroats. There are all types of Amishmen, depending on the community. Near where my parents have their cabin, some are less than desireable, shall we say, but in southern Indiana, we have real friends who are Amish, and who look down on the others, too. They are really good people. Once a contractor didn't shore up one of Dad's buildings well enough, and a strong wind brought the roof down while it was still under construction. Dad called Amos, who owns a woodworking company, and within three days he had all the materials rebuilt to put up the roof again.

Let your children decide what they want to do. Amish are good people who don't harm anyone else...have you ever heard of an Amish person holding up a bank or robbing someone? I think not. America is based on the fredom of religion, and as long as they don't hurt anyone, what do you have against them? They just choose to live a simple life.

They sound like a real improvement to the people I live among - maybe you could refer them to Valkenswaard (Dommelen to be more precise) I would be willing to offer them all the help they would like to come and live here.

Maybe America would be willing to take over some `real old fashioned roman catholic christians' that are looking for refuge for the tax office.

THe neigbourhood I think is trying to evict me because the prices goe down because I am black - can you beleive it I live in a neigbourhood nobody even wants to pass through it because it is so full of criminals.

Anyway I am not black - I am born and raised dutch - that is my home town.

your kids should be allowed to make their own decisions, if they want to be Amish, there is nothing wrong with that... (better Amish then Heroine whore) probably, when they find out that they are "not allowed" (by Amish law) to watch TV anymore they will stop "being Amish"

just let your kids find their own way in life...

regrettably, with the way that the commercial equipment is going, you're propably going to work out a upward thrust of ghetto people stepping into richer community. it really is how that is right here in Las Vegas, NV. you are able to literallychronic down a street with wealthy houses on one facet and undesirable on the different. We employ our domicile and characteristic grow to be pleasant with our acquaintances on one facet. They suggested they sighed even as they said us because maximum folk residing in our domicile were grimy. No, i do not experience the favor to respond to my door to any Tom, Dick, and Harry. call me unfriendly, racist, whatover in case you'll. for lots of the day i'm domicile on my own. Their were circumstances even as someone rings the doorbell and that i don't recognize who they're. How am I meant to recognize it they're casing my domicile or not? One time this black guy got here and he does not tell me why he replaced into there. He suggested and that i quote "i'm a in basic terms yet another scarey black guy". I advised him via the door that i did not care what colour he replaced into. If he couldn't tell me why he replaced into there than i could not open my door. you do not favor to respond to the door to all and distinctive that comes. it really is why God invented keyholes. i does not be frightened of your new acquaintances, yet that would not advise that i does not be careful.

Simmer down. These are quiet, religious people who mean no harm to anyone. I've lived among them and can appreciate some of their simple ways. It would appear you fear the difference and are opposed to change of any sort. One thing you need to accept and learn to live with is change...it has always been happening and always will. Give yourself and them a break and simmer down.
