Check out Goo Gone, it might be okay for the type of material the rug is.

IF that isn't a player, nail polish remove (acetone) is also good for stickers.

have you soaked the glue and sticker in good old soap and water?

I have not tried this so it is only a suggestion. Perhaps try laying a towel over it and ironing the towel to loosen up the glue. Once the glue is warm you should be able to pull the sticker off. You may be able to pull at the glue pieces with your fingers until you have it all removed. You may need to use something like goo-gone to finish up the task. Good Luck!

Remove as much of sticker as possible, then use a touch of dish washing liquid. It takes the sticky off. Rinse.

Use De-Solv-It (it's like Goo Gone and you can get it at Wal-Mart) and then use a soft brush to gently remove adhesive. Then use Dawn dishwashing soap to remove the rest. This has worked for me.

Try uisng a blow dryer on warm and pulling the stickers off while using it
