Some people say it destroys the sanctity of marriage, but hasn't divorce and adultery already done that?

Others state it is a sin, but the Bible has only four implied admonishments against homosexuality and over 350 admonishments against heterosexuality. If marriage is a sin, then in theory the gay couple just has to find "God" and ask for forgiveness for their sins to get into heaven.

Then there is the argument that gays should have the rights of a married couple, but does not violate equal rights and the separation of church and state?

I would like to know as many arguments against gay marriage as possible.

Sorry - you will not get an argument AGAINST gay marriage from me. People have the right to marry whomever they wish.

People are against gay marriage because ignorance is bliss. People cannot even define what "sanctity of marriage" means. If religion was the only thing to monitor marriage, then why do people bother getting marriage licenses?

Marriage itself is a legal, binding contract, nothing more, nothing less. It has absolutely nothing to do with "sanctity."

The marriage CEREMONY can have something to do with religion if the couple so chooses. But the actual marriage itself, again the only thing it is, is a legal binding contract, has absolutely nothing to do with religion.

Dude,
In Christianity its not just asking for forgiveness, you have to repent or turn from your wicked ways. I can't committ adultery today, then say god forgive me (just to cover my butt) and go do it tomorrow. Thats not repenting. Repenting is feeling bad that you have disobeyed God, and vowing to never do that again. Words don't count, it the intent of the heart that God looks at. These are probably the four "admonishments" against homosexuality in the Bible you are referring check out Leviticus Chapters 18 and 20, Romans Chapter 1and 1 Corinthians Chapter 6. I don't consider:

""If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them." (Lev 20:13)

as a simple admonishment.

Because they are stupid and don't want other people to make their own decisions. Because they don't want change. And because "their god" says it's wrong. No one on this stupid planet can seem to leave others alone.

I am not gay, but I say.... leave them alone and let them do what they want, all marriage is, is two PEOPLE showing how much they care for each other. That they are willing to make an agreement to stay together until ones dies, to show their love for each other in the unity of marriage, the most romantic way of showing you love someone more then anything and anyone else!!

Fear. I think if marriage for anyone regardless of gender became the norm you would have a lot of religious theology made invalid in eyes of such believers. Marriage is a social institution not a religious one. It can be religiously sanctified if you so choose but it does not start that way. Judges and Justices of the Peace have been doing marriages since colonial times.

A man and woman can have children and bring new life into the world, a man and man can bring HIV into the world. The traditional family used to be Father, Mother, Child, Pet. Now it is Father, Mother, Child, Step Father, Step Mother, step child, half child, but still contians a marriage of man and woman. If man and man or woman and woman would be together there would be NO ONE left to complian about it. Its Man and Woman and noone will ever change it to be right or normal.

The reason(s) why I am against gay marriage are these:

1) 95% of the U.S. population doesn't want gay marriage

2) Those 95% of people define marriage as between man and woman.

Because it goes against what God intended.. He put Adam and Eve together not Adam and Billy or Eve and Sarah... And if you don't think that there is a God, take a look around you, the world is just a little to balanced for it to happen just by chance..

If Jesus or God would have known that he had created so many perverted, horney, fags. He would have put 1000's of things against it in the bible. Even God didnt now that people would be stupider than the animals and sleep with their own kind.

divorce of course destroys a marriage--sometimes one needs to end, sometimes not. , Adultery does not necessarily destroy a
marriage.

Gay marriage destroys the accepted traditional definition of what marriage is. --
People fear if we change the definition to that extreme, it will eventually destroy the institution of marriage.
