In formal writing it should be " the Government of the United States of America". Less formal " United States Government"
Lastly " U.S. Government", never US Government or US government.

Well, to be the most formal, I believe it should be "United States Government" but when I've mentioned it in more formal papers I just use "U.S. Government" or "US Government".

If you want to talk about formal, It would probably be United States Government.

US Goverment..to me it doesnt matter cause it has the same meaning.
