Catholic means 'world wide'. do you mean Roman Catholic? We all go to war for different reasons.
Patriotism, defending ones country, defending ones beliefs, defending those who are in peril from aggression.
There are so many reasons. I an not an RC, but if you truly believe that there are those who would destroy your faith and your way of living, what option do you have?
Face slavery, and a new dark age or go to war and fight to protect what you believe in!!

Catholics use the "just war" doctrine to determine it war is justified.

The “just war” doctrine requires rigorous consideration to determine if defense by military force is legitimate.

Offensive war is never justified.

All the following considerations must be true to justify war:
1. The damage inflicted by the aggressor on the nation or community of nations must be lasting, grave, and certain;
2. All other means of putting an end to it must have been shown to be impractical or ineffective;
3. There must be serious prospects of success;
4. The use of arms must not produce evils and disorders graver than the evil to be eliminated.

With love in Christ.

By being Catholic and all the negative aspects that that entails (not that there aren't positive aspects, just not many) such as: intolerance; ignorance; hypocrisy; self-righteousness; and the very fact that christians, and jews their forebears, have been fighting wars since the collapse of the Roman Empire.

That's the stance the Vatican largely took during WW2 and so the war and the persecutions carried on.

Is it just Catholics who should be pacifists in your view, or Christians in general?
