Just as the question is alluding to. If a guy robs you, with a gun or other deadly weapon, and demands you hand him your purse, and he empties the contents out, and tells you to take the contents, but only wants the purse itself, would you think that would be twilight zone strange? What would you say or do?

I'd let him have the purse, but I don't think he'd be too happy that he gave me the contents. I have a concealed carry permit, and I just might have a gun in the contents.

That happens quite a bit. The robber won't necessarily say keep the contents, but they dump them out on the ground or in a nearby trash can. I believe the reason is more along the lines of one can not prove a purse is theirs if there is no identification rather than some altruistic concern about the victim's personal belongings. The rest is useless to them if the purse is valuable and/or they just want the cash.

Um if he wanted a purse that bad, he could have saved himself the pain of being kicked in the balls and spent the money that he spent on the gun at Goodwill on a $1.00 purse.

While he is emptying out the contents of my purse I would punch him in the face and knee him in the groin. After he dropped his gun, I would grab it and shoot him in both knees. Then I would pick up my cell phone and call the police.

Besides the fact that this would never happen....

I would laugh. Take my $30-on-clearance purse. I needed an excuse to buy a new one anyway....And since he didn't steal my money.. I'm going to treat myself to an expensive one this time, and a bottle of pepper spray.

whats the point of the robbery? To get a purse? He could just steal one from a store or his mother or sister or buy one a VOA for a dollar

I would grab my contents and leave. A silly $400 purse is certainly not worth my life and if he is giving me back my credit cards, licenses, photo's etc....then I am actually the lucky one.

I'd just think he had a date he needed to impress and couldn't afford a purse to match his outfit.

I'd think you had a designer purse.

He probably figured that after you spent the big bucks on the Prada bag that there wouldn't be any money left inside it anyway!
