Anything which burns in oxygen gets oxydised. And oxydation of hydrogen results in water. The chemical equation is as under:

2H2 + O2 = 2H2O

The reaction however has to be done in a controlled manner else it may lead to an explosion. Hydrogen is the purest fuel as no residue is left and no harmful gases are emitted.
