If cod3 is ww2 then what was cod2 based on?

ww2. But I heard that Cod4 will be based on modern warfare and CoD5 on future warfare, just like Battlefield.

The longer one thinks about wars, the way of wars and basing games on wars, the longer wars will continue.
You, and others like you, who play war games are training your minds to think of war as good - to think of the winner of a war as a victor. The people you kill in games are not real people but the way the games make you think mean that you tend to treat all humans this way - especially those you are never likely to meet (on the Internet, for example).
The games are very attractive because they seem to encourage your 'manhood' and stroke your ego but really all that is happening is that you are getting a false sense of pleasure from solving a problem which is dressed up as an adversary.
