Business management is a safer career choice than accounting. Accounting is scary not because computers and technology will render it obsolete, but because many companies are sending accounting jobs to India - no joke, India has universities that train their students in English and US tax law, and those workers cost a fraction of the US wage - so many entry level accounting jobs will dry up over the next several years. Also, accounting is a narrow field - it's tough to move into management or marketing, or even to other areas within finance.
Business management is much broader and gives you more career options - you can work in finance, accounting, marketing, management, or any business field you want. Then you could elect to specialize in accounting - but having the broader business knowledge as a base will position you to be promoted faster at work. Business majors are always in demand, and business jobs offer great upside over the long-term. If you do business management, you can also take some accounting courses on the side.

You can finish your Accounting degree since that is what you love and minor in Computer Science and/or Business Management. That way you have more to offer employers if there comes a time for accounting tasks to become completely computerized. In the past I would have probably suggested an MBA but I know too many on the streets trying to pay back student loans with incomes that never panned out. The rising costs of further education is prohibitive and the increased educational background is pricing many people off the market. It's hard to get a picture of the real world from Professors and career counselors. They always seem to be partial to their own field and , after all, it is there job to keep bodies in the seats. Talk to as many people as you, especially recruiters and HR people. You will know immediately what's hot and what's not.

There is a lot of public speeking in business management. Also you do have to know some basic accounting in business managemant. Business management is a great career but if you manage a dual major with accounting you can get paid more than taking it alone. Business managers often consult with accounting staff on how the business is doing financially and you have to make decisions on thier findings. If you have an accounting background as well you are more valuable to the compnay because you understand how the dicisions you are making affect the company.

Depends on what the unemployment situation n your country is like. If you want to work with your BA qualifications, you definately need to consider post grad degree right away. In your case a master's degree in finance, finacial management or Bussiness Administration (which is becoming common nowadays) would be ideal for you. ACCA and CIMA are ok too.
I graduated 3 years ago and have attempted to apply for over 50 different jobs that were in line with my BA (Social Sciences POLIT SCIE and PUBL ADMIN) but in vain. I only received a few regret letters about 6 interviews and NO JOB.
So starting your own bussiness or working for a new small bussiness whilst pursuing you masters should do.
So good luck and stop the counfusion of what courses to take in your BA.

hi, MBA will certainly give a boost to your career. But since u have some accounting background, i suggest u also consider ERP like Oracle Finance, SAP Finance, etc. It has great prospects and salaries are sky high. People who work on ERP's finance modules or any other module like Customer Relations Management (CRM), Supply Chain Management (SCM), Etc are functional consultant and they dont need to any prior IT / Programming experience.
Doing MBA will take atleast two years, You could be ready for a ERP career within 6 months.

Well, Accounting is not going anywhere.
Computers are already doing what you seem to think is accounting. Accountants do not do accounts, computers already do that. Accountants advise.
Who cares about future, job availability and salary.
I was a good accounting student a few years ago, all my friends went into accounting, but I went into marketing, because i enjoyed it more.
Focus on what you enjoy, if you are good at either option, you will be successful.
