You see tons of homeless people because they don't care about life! America is by far one of the best if not the only country to be soo helpful to anybody, you just have to try. I know this because i've been through it. i'm from Iraq, North that is so im no stupid arab or whatever i'm a Kurd and when we came here to the US we had ONLY $20, $20 doesnt get meals for a family of 4 from Mcdonalds! Yes we did get help from Government and other local stuff and 3 months later my dad bought a used nissan! with that Nissan we drove to Colorado from Houston and this is was our first 3 months in the USA or any other place in our lives and from there on we tried and now I can't be any happier! we just a bought a 350k house and 2 new cars and i'm about to get a house for myself! now this isn't happening because we won the lotto or something, we have this now because we tried and actually appreciated and took advantage of what was offered to us. I bet I can start with $20 right now and in a year or two I will have a job and be living in an apartment! so you probably got my point! ANYBODY can get a better life no matter how bad it is ESPECIALLY in this country! and the government wants to go to mars because they think it's important and that I think is wrong unless they prove to us that in the long wrong run it will help us tremendously! people choose what they want to be and how they want to live in this country and when they choose to go the wrong way, then too bad it was their own bad decision not the government's or anybody else!

No one needs to be homeless. You are assuming the government is responsible for this. There are programs for them but for some reason or other, they will not accept help.

In Pittsburgh we have a lady who is a fixture on the street. She has a PHD. There is also a one legged trumpet player that lives in one of the most expensive parts of the county.

Granted not all cases are the same and there are alot of needy in this country, but alot of the homeless have other issues which should be addressed, such as mental illness.

Actually the homeless situation is not the cause of the government. What you are seeing is people who for whatever reason are on the streets. It is not up to the government to take people and give them jobs. Some of these people are on the street because their health benefits ran out and they need more psychiatric help. Others are on the street because they lost their job and instead of saying any job that pays the mortgage, the rent - will do they would rather sleep on the street. If you want to help them, give these people a job and quit expecting the government to run your life or the life of others.

There are shelters and services galore for those people. Why they would rather stand on the street is something you would have to ask them.

Oh, and some are not homeless at all. They make a very good living playing to your sympathy. At the end of the day they go home to their nice house and then at the end of the week, take off to gamble in Vegas.

No, it does not make any sense. But "our" government seems to always get it's priorities mixed up. Regardless as to what anyone may think, every state has homeless people. Those that think otherwise, choose to ignore that they exist or have been fortunate enough not to actually lay eyes on them. This is a situation that needs more attention from our leaders.

Your worried about going to MARS?
That was just a blurb on DUBYAS part.

HE was playing a game a la JFK.

There was a reason JFK made going to the moon a national priority and that was to one up the Soviet Union on Technical prowess.

I support the space program but I don't think MARS mission a priority these days.

Un manned probs are better.

the government cares about everyone and everything else to spend their (our) money on besides our own people, our own country. we need more jobs here in our own country, we need better medical care in our own country, we need better education. there is no reason why the united states should have poor and homeless people if we are suppose to be the so-called superpower nation. am i right? one day the united states will be the poorest country and do you think anyone is going to help us?

that's life man, why not before work go ask them why they are not in a shelter or seeking help from one of the numerous organizations waiting to help people who refuse to help themselves. yes we should go to mars and beyond, it makes perfect sense.
