ya i know many of them do that but trust me many of the girls in india(your name suggest tyhat you are from india ) mind it . so if it is with such girls dont do it tha=ey might think that you want to flirt with them AND MIGHT feel hurt,. well there are ithers who enjoy it so just see for the safe side but i dont think it to be a great idea. you can definitely be very close friends with girls too nothing wrong.

Maybe they think that is what is expected of them, or that will be expected of them soon, OR they see the older guys doing that and they want to seem older.
Just be truthful with girls and be yourself.
