I've read many answers to the questions regarding Iraq and the muslims in general. Most of the Americans think of nuclear striking, eradication of the Muslim and so on... Don't you think this is a criminal mentality?

The American psyche has been deeply scored after 9/11. They are not used to such situations. Onlookers all along, they got hit for the first time in their own backyard. It is only natural that there are very deep resentments and feeling that this impossible scenario must end very quickly. Hence the thought of nuking Muslims. But who will they nuke? There are Muslims in America- They are American countrymen. There are Muslims all over the world. There are all innocent civilians. For a handful of terrorists who have twisted Ideologies (having been brain washed by Mullahs) innocents can not be punished or annihilated. These problems are convoluted and very involved with centuries of deprivations injustices heaped on a community which is most exploited in their own land reeking in poverty ,misery, illiterate and starving. Hence these are the people who are ripe and fitting candidates for recruitment in to the terrorist ranks and they have nothing to loose. It is very difficult problem and only time will tell where this will all lead to. All i can do is to pray earnestly that good sense will prevail and some tall leader with a statesman like vision will create conditions to ebb this tide and call all those who matter for negotiations leading to just settlements and old peace.

Did you consider the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon "violent"? Do you consider anthrax in the mail "violent"? How about suicide bombers? Are they "violent"? What's THEIR mentality while they're bombing women and children? Saintly? How about Saddam Hussein gassing thousands of his own citizens? Is that considered violent, or because he is 'Muslim', it's ok to murder innocent people?

It's amazing. The elected leaders of Iraq have stated over and over they cannot run their country without our help, at this point in time. If we left now, Iraq would tear itself apart. It's trying to do that very thing already.

Iraqi Muslims consider the US forces stationed there to be "occupiers". This is the word used when the speaker is trying to foment unrest in his audience. But is the US really "occupying" Iraq? We are there at the request of the elected (for the first time!) government of Iraq, to train Iraqi forces, to assist the government in maintaining control of it's newly emerging society and to defend the government against radical militants who attack the Coalition forces only because they see any future with them not in charge of Iraq as unacceptable. These are your enemies, young lady, not the US.

Never has an American official in the government made a statement to the effect, "We just want to completely get rid of Muslims." This is a ridiculous and impossible thing to accomplish. However, the deposed Iraqi regime has said on many occasions how they want the Jewish people wiped off the face of the Earth. Other Middle Eastern countries continue to say the same thing. Who has the criminal mentality?

When Muslims can get together and not have someone ask, "Who brought the plastic explosive?", then maybe the US will be able to leave Iraq. Personally, I would rather ride a horse than buy an ounce of gas from anyone who thinks he's getting 70 virgins when he kills women and children.

And Kelly C, you are without a doubt the most confused person Ive ever read in Yahoo Answers. Are you saying we SHOULDN'T be allowed to defend ourselves? I'm curious what country you live in. Is it in Europe? Do you remember a similar tyrant known as Adolph Hitler? We stayed out of that one until the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. We left all the rest of the world alone and what did it achieve? Peace? Or a cowardly attack on forces which were not at war? Had we not gotten involved, who do you think would have triumphed at the end? Do you realize you'd be asking these questions in German right now, if we HADN'T gotten involved?

Just goes to show, not all the idiots live in America.

Listen, you have to show a crazy leader that making threats, we can take crazy to levels crazy doesn't need to go and know it's not a threat, but a promise. We'll give you the chance to discuss this and work it out, but keep ignoring US and things will get unpleasant for everyone. Americans have to live with some pretty ugly history, specifically the dropping of 2 bombs on Japan, we never want to see another nuclear bomb dropped again, but don't rule out the possibility we'd make an exception for you.

Americans don't want violence. In the US we have a very fair and effective legal system designed to handle disputes peacefully. Our prison system believed a person could change and some can. Capitol punishment is still used by some states and many countries. In the US, getting the death sentence and the day of execution are years apart to allow for plenty of appeals. This is your Right as a US citizen.

You're innocent until proven Guilty, in the US. Many legal systems still used around the world are opposite. You're Guilty until proven innocent. Also effective, maybe not as fair, with death sentences often carried out sooner. So a dispute between two countries with different legal systems is often settled outside the court room, and that's where issues can get violent.

We don't want to wipe out anyone, we want to discuss the issues and come to an agreement. That requires both side to enter the courtroom together, if one refuses to enter or compromise, the use of force can & may be used.

No,not all Americans think of wiping out all muslims. For years,we Americans sat back and let our diplomats try to settle the problems we had with other nations to no avail. Look at when the Ayatollah Khomeini of Iran ordered the capture of the staff of the American Embassy and held for more than 300 days.
Khadafi of Libya threatening the Mediterranean Fleet. What about the attack on the U.S.S. Cole that was attacked while refueling in port?Try see your nations flag being held by two men as a garbage can or being burned. We gritted our teeth and took it. But guess what, you keep poking the tiger in the cage, don't be surprised if it attacks you when you open the door. Osama bin Laden did that. Now the nations of the world fear us. That wasn't our intention, but to deal with terrorism, you DO have to use violence. Diplomacy won't work with them.

I think that you need to do your homework before you make a statement like that. Americans are extremely angry at the fact that Muslim terrorist came on our soil and TRIED to bring us down by attacking the trade center (money), The Pentagon (Military), and where ever the third plane was going to go (although didn't make it because our fellow Americans were not about to let it happen). It is not Muslims in general...most Muslims are totally against what they did and are insulted because they named religion for their reasoning of attacking. It's not Muslims in general that we want taken down, it's Bin Lauden and all of his gang. Nobody said anything about nuclear striking or eradication of Muslims and so on.

First I would like to say that I don't think most Americans think violence is the way to deal with Muslims or the Middle East. However, I feel that part of the problem is that we Americans are starting to get desensitized to violence. It is on our TVs, it is in our movies, and it is in almost all of our video games. Too many people these days just see violence as the first solution to problems instead of as a last resort.

You can't call the few on here "Most" Americans. Most American, just like everyone else want to go about their business of raising their family, working, and playing. We however do get a little tired of the terrorist attacks, and their mentality. They are brutal and have no place in modern society. I do also question those Muslims that are not denouncing the terrorist. It raises my suspicions that perhaps they are not the peace loving religion they boast. Their silence is screaming volumes.

America was born from war. Not all Americans think the way our leaders do, however. I agree that far too many are hate-filled and vindictive, but they don't represent the rest of us. A majority in this country are against the Iraq war now. Don't assume that our arrogant leadership is indicative of the attitudes of the rest of America. There are those in every country who would rather spew hatred and promote violence, but they are usually in the minority. They just scream louder than the rest of us.

That is not true at all.
What a horrible thing to say.
No one I have ever met wants to eradicate Muslims.
I have about 25 muslim friends here and there are Muslims living and working peaceably all around my city in Texas.

This is very insulting.
Don't you realize that many, many Americans are Muslims?

Don't forget, Saddam was given numerous opportunities to come to the table and play nice. He chose to play his own game and the weak UN wouldn't kick him out of the game. The same thing is happening with Iran and N. Korea. I'd like to know why you think you can trust these people when they've proven time and time again that they don't want to play nice. At what point do you suggest force is used to remove those people from power?
