What does a 6-yr old study?? How to stay in the lines when coloring in a book?
If you want to teach him good studying skills at an early age, create a comfortable place away from TV and other distractions. Give him one or 2 educational type toys that requires some level of concentration (building blocks, Legos, coloring books, etc) and let him play alone for 15 minutes or so. Don't force him to "study", but praise his accomplishments and display his "work" if feasible.

6 year old to study?Sounds you want to make him a full time nerd from this stage itself.. Learning should be made scientific and fun so that you need not force him to learn..For eg.. If he has to learn the names of animals take him to a zoo or get him toys resembling animals , he would develop curiosity and will wish to know more..With the same interest he would not only turn out to be more creative but more responsible and wont need someone to be behind him for completion of his work

A 6-year-old needs to know that he can count on the adult in his life to help him with his homework. He'll have plenty of years of independent study ahead of him. Talk to him about what he is learning and sit with him as he works.

you have to find something that he is interested in relating to the subject if you do not you are going to have a very hard time. It also depends on what you want him to study. There are computer games that make learning fun and other gadgets that are good for teaching too.

Find something fun & interesting. Kids learn best at play, & there are so many learning "toys" that he can become completely absorbed in. Why not go with him to Toys R Us or Wal Mart & see what he gravitates toward. Musical instraments, books that talk, etc all are educational & fun & all you have to do is let him choose what he likes to do.

train him......
make the assignments and homework fun....
include jokes while teaching him.....
and one time, tell him try to study by himself.....
if he enjoyed it studying by himself and he had better grades, let him study by himself....
just teach him when he doesn't understand the topic....

He will need a reason to do that. I used to give my son a prize if he would read the material and tell me about it. He loved telescopes, trips to the zoo, etc. He wanted to finish the project to get his treat.

You must tell him that if he studies the given work, then he will be gifted by yourself with some ice-cream

Make it fun. I have a six year old who I homeschool. Most of time, we are doing her lessons together. She responds well to my constant feedback.
