Economically speaking only as long as your are good to do something. Physical hard and honest labour or just stay in a wheelchair and present your ideas, anything as long as you contribute in some way. Afterwards, just let someone else do it.
For family reason we keep the elederly alive way more than necesarry. And this is a good thing as well but there are countries where 1 working person has to pay for 2 or 3 retired people who do nothing. And this is not fair.

A person should strive to live as long as they can with a healthy body and mind preferably... Aiming for 100 yrs is not unreasonable and if you're lucky and look after yourself you might even make it a bit over. The reason for this is - being healthy in mind and body is much nicer than being ill in either and once you are born you have no choice but to live until you die, so you may as well make the very best of your allotted time as possible. That's my opinion anyhow. :p

Just as old as he / she can manage, if he / she don't get caught.

100 is a good goal, but keep A-L-I-V-E and well-maintained.

But it's not that simple, is it ?

The unforeseen and unexpected drunk driver is just one example.

Why.

The alternative state is as permanent as it gets, so might as well make hay while the sun shines.

Plenty enuff time later to kick back.

How long one lives should be nobody's business.

It's a two-party transaction betw. The One Who gives life, and the fellow getting the present.

100 years. Poetic justice. I just think thee's something beautiful about that round number. Right on your 100th birthday so you're exactly that age.

Hell yeah.

Plenty of time to complete everything. Of course, you should die before things get unbearably undignified and pathetic also - life truly is a circle huh?

The oldest living human died in 1997 at 120 years. That is the
potential. If one could manage to enjoy living at 100, why not
plan to stay around? There are no "shoulds"...life is to be cherished...other wise, society might start euthanizing "old people" because they are "burdens" on society. The definition of "old" might become 30 as in the movie "Logan's Run". http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074812/

Can anyone (fit, healthy & well) say when they would like to die? No! It's not in us to consider death. We were made to live forever - that's why scientists are still baffled as to why we do grow old and die. It is only due to the sin of Adam and Eve that we die. Thanks to Jesus's ramson sacrifice, very soon now, we will have the chance to live forever on a peaceful, paradise earth without sickness and death (Rev 21:3,4). For further information contact your local congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

A person should live until their mind and body give out. One without the other isn't quality life. Quality over quantity.

I'd say around 80-85.

People deteriate badly after then.

My Nan is 93 and in the last two years she has fallen apart, with altzheimers and bad limbs etc...

She was fantastic up to then.
