I am in a dilemma women! My man and I have been together for 5 yrs now and the sad bit is my parents hate him since the day they met him! He is amazingly similar to my father and I think thats why my dad hates him so. Any advice as to how I could make them accept him soon?

ask him to be extra-cordial to them.and ask him to inquire your dad about his achievements.any guy would like to boast [especially to someone he doesnt like] , and make him sound like a graduate in that particular topic.seeing the same interest may loosen up your dad.as for mom`s sake ask him to look neat always,behave respectably and get something nice for her.

Sadly, it is not an easy thing to do, especially after 5 years. My thoughts would be to advise them that you love him and while it hurts you that they don't accept him, you can agree to disagree on the subject. Then try and let it drop. If you force the issue you run the risk of making the issue worse. Try and accept that while they don't love each other, they all have their love for you in common. Good luck with it.

I would like to think that it was your life, and not your parents. If your father can't accept your husband, it is his problem. He should be understandig and open minded. Talk to your father, and tell him how you feel about it. It is your marriage, and you could use some support from him.

You have to play it by ear. Deal with each situation in a positive way and always hold him very high around them.

hmmmm
why is it that they hate him so much - what about your mom?
if they haven't liked him for this long there must be a good reason
but
they should see that he makes you happy and that should be good for them
so i dont know what to tell you other than see WHY and ask them what it is specifically about your man that bugs them
then go from there!

You say your parents hate him? What does your mother think? She is important too. I would ask her - you and her both best know your two lovers.

you could not make them accept him but he can if he respect them and not to do aganest them
