Men originated it. They like blondes. They like submissive women. They don't like them to be bright,it's threatening. Women were just supposed to be dumb and sexy. Of course they were bright enough to realize what the men wanted and give it to them, (when the men had all the power and women knew "which side their bread was buttered"!) Now women have some power of their own- not a lot - but some ,they don't always act the way SOME men think they should!Being a "dumb" accessory to a man is boring.

I'd say envy. I mean, not that there aren't any silly blondes; but there are silly brunettes too.
There is the "Gentlement prefer blondes" theory. There is the Berghoff Blondes breeed. I mean, to look really goregeous, you need a perfect determination, and the success is its own reward, and those who cannot achieve it... are envious.

I think it might have been the Hollywood movies who made "Stars" out of people like Marilyn Monroe, Diana Dors, Greta Garbo etc. who were all very intelligent women but were made to look dumb by the parts they had to play and the poses they had to make for their photos.

I think it's a cultural thing. (fair haired and fair skinned women were more reserved than brunettes) , though I heard a wives tail that said that dark hair absorbs more sun and vitamins thus making you smarter than a blonde. who knows.
