Actually Norton or any other anti-virus software shall not stop popping up telling you that you have a virus on your computer. When a virus enters your computer, dialog boxes of our A/V will pop-up and tell that you have a virus and asks you what are you going to do so.
This ain't going to stop unless you get rid of the virus. You can delete it by the Norton or delete it manually, but usually it's in a System File, so delete at your own risk...
If nothing else works try to reformat the PC.

Is it really Norton or a banner flash? A banner flash is one that appears on the upper corner of your screen. Norton will be right in the middle. You have to know the difference. You never delete an infected file, you quarantine the file. . If Norton has detected a virus, run a full computer scan, it will take little over an hour. I always unplug from the internet while it runs it's scan. When it is done it will tell you where your problems are and then you click on begin fix. If it is a virus, quarantine the file, never delete it. Have Norton scan your computer once a week or when a suspected problem is there. Then you are good to go... You should know the difference between a banner flash or the real Norton. If you have any other problems you are unsure of, call the help number on the Norton Box. You shouldn't have any problems once you run the scans and have Norton do it's thing. I have been using Norton since 98. Never had a virus get in,some has tried, but Norton stopped it and we were notified by Norton too. Oh it is a good thing to have. I hope you have a firewall too.

Sounds like the Norton is not cleaning something. Try downloading a copy of AVG or Avast from download.com and run either of them and see if it cleans the virus. Be sure to DISABLE the Norton before installing either of the others. You can not run to virus scanners at the same time.
If neither of those clear the virus, then repost with the exact error you are getting in the Norton popups. Without knowing which of the thousands of viruses, trojans, spywares, worms, etc. it is, it is hard to suggest a solution.

Dear, without disabling Auto-protect you can't do it!
Its like without switching of u cant turn off the fan!
If u dont have any impotant data in ur PC, why dont u remove the norton! Its slow the PC and eat memory lots! Download Macafee Stringer (2 or 3 MB), it doesnt install on xp's programme file, its run from its own dat file. And every week or month stinger updated the latest virus for scanning!

Like the others said, STOP going to sites that have viruses. IE, "Game", "Fun", "porn", etc...50% of thoes sites contain Malware of some kind.
I use the following for my computer.
I have hears of many prople having trouble with Norton and the other 'pay' programs.
First dileat "Norton" as 2 anti virus cannot run at the same time.
I use all of the following Free software with Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer with MSN toolbar and the pop-up blocker turned on and have never had a single problem with my computer sense Microsoft came out with SP2. (knock on wood.) (And be sure to keep Windows and the following software Updated)
The best Anti-virus is: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. (www.grisoft.com)
The Best Spyware defense is: SpyBot Search and Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html)<--English version
AND: AdAware SE (www.lavasoft.com)
AND Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.info/kb/)
The best Firewall besides the one that comes with Windows is: Zone Alarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/co... or just (www.zonelabs.com) and select the FREE version.
These are all FREE and are all that are required. There is no reason to pay for this kind of software, except to give a donation to the writers if you can.
ALL the above programs are recommended and should be run on a regular basis. With some the free versions they must be run manually.
The best way to avoid getting any Malware (virus, Trojan's, spyware, etc) is to practice safe computing. Microsoft and many others have countless articles on the subject of safe computing. (something I think should be taught in schools)

certain. only open Norton AV and bypass into configuration and set it to do no longer notify. yet you may want to verify sometimes besides because you received't discover out if Nortons fastened it no longer. It relies upon how a lot you cost your own tips about shifting into someone fingers and being abused. good success!

check why the popups are coming. if you are getting repeated popups, this implies that the root cause of the problem is still there, try a full system scan
